About CSM

CSM is a voluntary agency providing information, advice and support to carers of all ages, caring for people living in the borough of Merton. CSM also advises statutory agencies about carers' needs.

Information
  • Free information pack contains fact sheets about help and support available to carers
    Also available via the website: www.carerssupportmerton.org.uk
  • Two newsletters which tell carers about our activities and local and national news:
    • For all carers over 18 years of age
    • For young carers

Advice
  • Support Workers (can visit carers in their homes to offer advice, information and emotional support)
    • For carers in employment or seeking employment
    • For carers of older people
    • For parent carers
    • For carers of people with mental health problems

Support
  • Several support groups
    • For female carers
    • For male carers
    • For carers of people with severe mental illness
  • Respite events and day trips to places of interest through the year for carers;
    these can include theatre trips, coffee mornings and social events;
  • Range of free one-to-one and group therapies;
  • "Listening" sessions for carers

Help for young carers
For children between 5 and 18 with caring responsibilities or whose lives are affected by illness or disability in the family.

Getting Carers Voices heard
A flexible carers forum called The Carers' Voice, helps to make carers concerns better heard by service providers and local government
Carers subgroups which have a direct link to the Partnership Boards for each concern:
Older People, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol and Physical Disability & Sensory Impairment
